Rocky Mountain Shito-Ryu Karate-Do is dedicated to supporting the community. We believe in giving back to the community and people that live in the Fremont County area. We feel it is part of our civic duty and our responsibility as martial artists to help those who cannot help themselves, defend those who cannot defend themselves, and reach out to those in need.We proudly support the following organizationsProgressive Care Centerwww.centuraseniors.org/progressivecare Progressive Care Center offers nursing home care, rehabilitation therapies and Alzheimer's care. Progressive Care Center has a reputation for quality and caring - all in a home-like atmosphere. The facility is located adjacent to St. Thomas More Hospital, your community hospital in Cañon City. Rocky Mountain Shito-Ryu Karate-Do regularly performs demonstrations for the residents at PCC. We also visit the facility and help with various activities such as Ice Cream Socials, Easter Egg hunts, and Watermelon socilals. Canon City Family Crisis Centerwww.familycrisiscenteronline.com The Family Crisis Center of Canon City provides safety, support & promotes justice for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault and their families in Fremont and Custer Counties. Through community education, they increase awareness and empower the community to challenge the attitudes, and change the values, that support violence. Rocky Mountain Shito-Ryu Karate-Do conducts an on-going drive for the Crisis Center. We collect non perishable food items as well as sanitation, personal hygene, and health items. We also conduct food and toy drives for the Center during the Holidays. Alzheimer's AssociationRocky Mountain Shito-Ryu Karate-Do sponsers, along with USA Tang So Do, a special Fight Night every year for the Alzheimer's Association. We invite other martial arts schools from both Fremont County and the Pueblo area to participate and accept donations to aid in fighting this disease. We also participate in the Alzheimer's Association's annual walk. Fremont County Family CenterThe Fremont County Family Center provides "one stop shopping" for parents looking for fun and educational experiences for themselves and their children. Located at 1333 Elm Ave. in Cañon City, the Family Center is home to a rainbow of services for small kids (0-5) and parents. Rocky Mountain Shito-Ryu conducts toy and food drives during the Holidays on a semi regular basis for the Fremont County Family Center. In 2009 we provided toys for over 90 less fortunate children at Christmas in the Fremont County area. That same year we provided 25 Thanksgiving dinners with turkey and all of the trimmings to those who otherwise would not have had a Thanksgiving dinner. Boys And Girls Club Of Fremont Countyhttp://www.bgcfremont.org/default.aspx Boys & Girls Club of Fremont County opened its doors June of 2011 and is currently serving over 50 youth. Boys & Girls Clubs of Fremont County provides a safe, structured and positive environment for young people after school, during holidays and summer vacation. The Boys & Girls Club of Fremont County is part of a nationwide network. Located in every state, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and U.S. military installations overseas, Boys & Girls Clubs are delivering proven programs to over 4 million young people every day. Our Mission: To inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens. Rocky Mountain Shito-Ryu offers a free 6 week Introduction To Karate class at the Boys And Girls Club for no charge. Rocky Mountain Shito-Ryu also offers regular karate classes to boys and girls referred to us by the club at a significant discount off of our regular tuition cost.
